Pyrethrum, one of the very well known plants that is an important bio-insecticide  used by environmentalists. These are placed in the family of Asteraceae. It is scientifically called as Chrysanthemum cinerariifolium and C.coccineum. Plants placed in this Chrysanthemum genus are perennial plants that bear terminal daisies with white petals.

These white flowers are crushed and pulverized, the process by which the active components called pyrethrins are extracted and sold in the form of oleoresins. These oleoresins are insecticides which are produced in large quantities in Africa.
