▲ Introduction:
Hot-dip galvanized is a form of galvanization. It's the process of coating iron, steel or aluminum with a thinzinc layer, by passing the metal through a molten bath of zinc at a terperature of around 860 °F (460 °C). When exposed to the atmosphere, the pure zinc reacts with oxygen to form zinc oxide, which futher reacts with carbondioxide to from zinc carbonate, a usually dull grey, fairly strong meterial that stops futher corrosion in many circumstances, protecting the steel below from the elements.
