Pacific Crown Conch live in distant shore. The short, pointed spire of thick, heavy shell is dwarfed by the hugely inflated body whorl. Spire whorl are orna-mented with row of blunt spines, which become obsolete on body whorl. Smooth columella is slightly curved. Chocolate-brown, with yellow spiral bands; aperture yellowish white. Body whorl may be more spiny than the examples illustrated. Shallow water on mud.
