For generations the Huayao Dais women of China, who are the kinsmen of Dais, have wrapped themselves in hand-loomed shawls created from cotton dyed the colors of the Altiplano. This lightweight cotton shawl is the same indigenous garment, created in an artisan workshop in Yunnan using a traditional palette of colored stripes,so each shawl takes more than two days to do. By tradition, the artisans recycle every last bit of thread left on the end of a spindle. Colors may vary. Woven on hand looms in Yunan.
