This bad & beautiful 1968 Dodge Dart is the perfect answer to "I can't afford a nice Mopar to cruise/drag/show. Originally a 270 small block car, this Dart was babied from the day it was born, spending most of it's life in a dry Western climate. With a little more than 70,000 original miles, the underside of the car is absolutely original, and absolutely rust free. But let's face it, 270 Darts hardly get the blood flowing! Accordingly, some modifications were in order, and boy were they done well! First, out went the reliable but sluggish 270. In it's place went a real 1969 440 engine, complete with a Crane Cam, Crane Roller Rockers, Edelbrock Torker Manifold, Demon 750 Carburetor, and Hooker Competition Headers. For added reliability and performance, an MSD Ignition and an Optima Battery were installed. A beefed up A727 Torqueflite was installed, complete with a B & M Shift Kit, and a 3000 Stall B & M Torque Converter. Power gets to the ground thanks to an 8 3/4" rear axle, with a 3.91 Richmond gear. This car flat out performs, running mid 11's all day, while hitting the grocery store on the way home! And, it runs cool, thanks to the 26" big block radiator which was installed. To keep an eye on things, the following guages were installed: tachometer; transmission temperate; oil pressure, and; water temeperate. Cosmetically, this car is a knockout! The extremely straight and rust free body was blasted, primed and repainted in a beautiful shade of Vitamin C orange. The hood received a black out treatment which was laid down perfectly, including the Kramer hood scoop. Likewise, the tail stripe has some high quality pinstriping, with the same blackout treatment.
