Silicone polymers are finding increasing use in the plastics compounding and fabrication with improving performance, this is caused by the structural features and properties of silicone. Polyorganosilicone consists of a polymeric backbone of alternating silicon and oxygen atoms with organic group attached to silicon. Compared with general organic polymers, silicone polymers show higher bond energy, bigger bond angle as well as longer bond length. These structures provide silicone polymers with excellent properties, including weather and thermal stability, oxidation resistance, good release from organic materials, water repellency, gas permeability, low surface energy, easy migration to surface, safety and physical inertness, which can be used for heat resistant sealing materials, paper release agent, anti-foam agent, lubrication additive, weave softener, and medical materials etc.
Silicone fluids are used extensively by the plastic industry as external mold release agent and internal additive to give processing advantages and surface property improvements. The migration of lower molecule weight silicone fluid, which has some bad effects on painting and coating properties, and the difficulty to meter and handle the fluid into plastic resins reduce the amounts of silicone polymers applicated to plastic industry.
GM series silicone additives are white pellets or white powder which made from ultra-high molecular weight polysiloxane, used by plastics as processing aids and impart expected silicone benefits to plastics, often more efficiently and more effectively than lower molecular weight silicone fluids, such as safety, little effect on the adhesion of paints, labels or decorations, more convenient to handle, good dispersion
