Carbon monofluoride, often referred to as carbon fluoride, polycarbon monofluoride, fluorinated graphite. CFx is mainly used for battery and lubrication additives, include additives in dry inks, additives in elastomeric seals, oxidation resistant catalyst supports and chromatographic column packing. As a kind of solid lubricative additives, CFx have excellent lubricant capability better than graphite. CFx is fluorinated graphite, and introduction of fluorine makes intermolecular forces between carbon layers more weak so that CFx exhibits better lubricating capability than graphite, especially under high temperature, high-speed and over-loaded conditions.
