Hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) is a high performance aliphatic flame retardant compound that has a very high bromine content resulting in a lower loading requirement to achieve fire retardant properties. It has found major uses in conferring non-flammable properties to plastics and textile products, particularly polypropylene, styrene based products, latex, textiles, coating, HIPS and unsaturated polyesters.
