The sintered/extruded carbon block filter element (CTO) uses high-density activated carbon and exclusive inert adhesives as main materials of 

construction. The large granular surface area has a tremendous capacity to remove 

chlorine, unpleasant odors, colors as well as spores and microorganisms.

Hongtek's CTO filter element is made of anthracite, coconut, acid washed, or silver-impregnated activated carbon. Coconut shell carbon has a better filtration effect upon

chemicals such as trihalomethanes. Standard CTO filter element is single open end. 

Various end cap style CTO filter elements are also available.
