Troxerutin is a mixture of hydroxylethylated derivatives of natural bioflavonoid Rutin extracted from Sophora japonica L., which contains not less than 80% of 7,3,4-Tris[O-(2-hydroxye-thyl)] rutin. It is a greenish-yellow crystalline powder, slightly hygroscopic and melts at 168°C to 176°C.

With better water-solubility than that of Rutin, Troxerutin is more easily absorbed and has a stronger therapeutic efficacy. It is best suited for the treatment of the prevaricose and varicose syndromes, trombophlebitis, post-phlebitic conditions, chronic venous deficiency, and hemorrhoids. It can also be successfully applied for muscle pain and edemas due to blood-flow disorders.
