The process stream enters at the bottom of the centrifuge and high centrifugal forces act to separate out the solids. The bulk of the solids will adhere on the walls of the bowl, while the heavy liquid phase will flow out from the lower outlet, and the light liquid phase flow out form the upper outlet.
It is a vertical high speed tubular separator, generating huge centrifugal force. It is used for continuous separation of two immiscible liquid having different specific gravities and for clarification of liquid.
