Oron Carbide (B4C) is one of the hardest man-made materials. Its hardness with Mohs hardness 9.36 and microscopic hardness 5400 to 6300kg/mm2is only exceeded by cubic boron nitrides and diamond. Its density is 2.52g/cm3 and melting point is 2450°C
Characters are as follows:
- Light Density
- High Hardness and Strength
- Erosion Resistance
- High Modulus of Elasticity
- Neutron Absorber
- Low thermal conductivity
Applications:
- Boron Carbide is well suited to a variety of industrial applications including:
- Abrasives for lapping and ultrasonic cutting
