Care instructions for charcoal filters - Clean filter surfaces frequently with a damp cloth and a mild detergent.  DO NOT immerse filter in water or put in dishwasher.  The special "Clean Sense" feature indicates when filter is to be replaced.  The BLUE AND YELLOW STRIPS will  blend to green when it's time to change the filter.  The "Clean Sense" feature works best when facing toward the cooking surface.
