Low-E glass also know as low-emissivity glass is a series of glass which surface is coated with coatings consisting of metal or other compounds.Low-E glass has excellent thermal performance and chemical properties because coating layer can transmit visible light and reflect infra red.

Transmittance of Low-E insulating glass for solar radiation of 0.3-2.5um is more than 60%, control heat one way flowing indoors.

Excellent thermal performance

Heat loss of exterior doors and windows is main part of more than 50% of  building energy consumption. Relevant research data shows that heat conduction of the inner surface of the glass is mainly thermal radiation which is about 58percent of total heat conduction. Then the most effective method of Inhibiting inner surface radiation is reducing the heat loss by change the properties of glass. Emissivity of ordinary float glass is 0.84, when glass was cated by Low-E film on base of silver, the emissivity was reduced to 0.1. So the building with Low-E Glass can reduce indoor heat loss because of thermal radiation.

Good optical performance

Transmittance of Low-E Glass to visible sunlight is more than 80%, reflectivity of Low-E Glass is very low, these may improve the optical properties.  The transparent appearance can ensure good lighting and phenomenon of light pollution of buildings, and create a more soft and comfortable light.
