Industrial Basic Hydrated Magnesium Carbonate： Simply as Light Magnesium Carbonate. Molecular formula is 4MgCO₃.Mg(OH)₂.8H₂O. It is white, monoclinic crystal or amorphous powder, innoxious, flavourless, and stable in air. It may dissolve in water slightly, and make water become weak alkaline. When temperature becomes over 300℃, Light Magnesium Carbonate may be decompounded to water and CO_2, and become Magnesium Oxide. Different magnesium oxide with different activity and particle’s diameter will be produced when they are calcined with different temperature and duration. Light Magnesium Carbonate has a small relative density, small weight, and a loose structure , therefore it may be a good filling agent and intensifier. Owing to the characteristics of noninflammable and light, it may be used as a material for thermal insulation and fire resistance. Asbestos Light Magnesium Carbonate is a fine insulating material, and may be applied to areas of shipbuilding and boiler manufacture etc, and also applied to manufacture chemicals for daily service and medicine, such as top grade glasswork, magnesium salts, pigment, paint, fire retardant coating, printing ink, ceramics, cosmetics, toothpaste etc.Eatable grade Light Magnesium Carbonate may be used as flour additive, and drier, color fixing agent, carrier, and anti-agglomeration.
