Properties: Colorless solid. The density is 2.36/cm3. It’s insoluble in water, soluble in acid and ammonium salt solution easily. It belongs to the medium strong alkali. It decomposes at 350 ℃.
Applications: Magnesium hydroxide powder is used industrially as a non-hazardous alkali to neutralise acidic wastewaters. It also has smoke suppressing and fire retarding properties.
