BMW motorcycle diagnostic tool GS-911
There are two types of GS-911. USB type and Bluetooth type.
Brief:
GS-911 is a Diagnostic Tool for BMW Motorcycles - a specialized tool consisting of an intelligent electronic interface in combination with Windows software. Also available is mobile software for most mobile phones, including Blackberry which makes the tool portable enough to take on any trip.
System Coverage:
This depends on the bike model, but in general we cover the following:
1. Engine controller (BMS-K, BMS-KP, BMS-C, BMS-CII, MA2.4)
2. ABS (ABS-N, Integral-ABS, Integral-ABS-CAN, Integral-ABS2-CAN)
3. Central Vehicle Electronics (ZFE)
4. Instrument cluster (Kombi)
Functions:
1. Read Diagnostic Fault Codes: This shows the Fault codes and text descriptions of the faults stored on the Electronic Control Unit.
2. Shows ECU information: See hardware and software versions, manufacturing dates, and other manufacturer related data.
3. Clears Diagnostic Fault Codes: Enables you to erase fault codes once the problem has been fixed.
Models Coverage:
Key:
1. CAN-bus : the new data bus that interconnects the Control units on the newer models - this was first released on the R1200GS in 2004. See a nice description of the CAN-bus by Anton Largiader
2. (non-CAN) : earlier motorcycle models that do not have the new CAN-bus system - sometime difficult to tell apart if you have an older 1200, but if it has a choke, it's definitely not a CAN-bus model...
3. ABS-II : Also known as ABS-2 - the predecessor to integral ABS (iABS, also known as servo assisted) on most R850, R1100, R1150 and older K1200 models. (*Due to protocol timing constraints, ABS-II is ONLY supported in the Windows versions of the software!)
4. 2-spark : in 2004 the F650-, R1150-Series and R1100S got two spark plugs per cylinder to eliminate surging some owners experienced and improve emissions.
