1.    OUTLINE

VS-UVSS-1S under vehicle surveillance system is an integrative information management system which can automatically conduct image acquisition, display, contrast and alert for the undercarriage information. The system is highly effective in preventing vehicle undercarriages from hiding bombs, weapons, biologically and chemically dangerous goods and control access to some important sites. It also can prevent the vehicle undercarriages from carrying drugs, smuggling or even to avoid the illegal immigrants from passing the checkpoints.
This system can be widely used in the following places:

Airports, government buildings, prisons, bank depot, military zones,seaports, police
      offices, etc, all of which requires highly secured for anti-terrorism purpose.
Customs, border control
Car park entrance checkpoint to important building
Toll station checkpoints
Checkpoints for entering and exiting vehicles attending conferences
2. SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
 
2.1 System Components
 
VS-UVSS-1S under vehicle surveillance system is made up of the following equipment:
 Under carriage imaging component VSUVI2000-II
 Host system VSM100
 VSUVC400 controller
 Other auxiliary equipment such as number plate recognized camera, scene
      camera, barricade etc.
VSM100, VSUVC400 are installed indoors, and they are installed in a standard cabinet of 19 inches; VSUVI2000-II is outdoors, and installed in the center of lane.
3. SYSTEM EQUIPMENTS
 
3.1 VSUVI2000-II Under Carriage Imaging Equipment
 
VSUVI2000-II under carriage imaging equipment is the key part of VS-UVSS-1S under vehicle surveillance system, and it is used to complete the scanning of vehicle undercarriage. It uses advanced Line scan digital imaging technology to have high-definition and high-resolution image. VSUVI2000-II under carriage imaging equipment is installed outdoors. Metal trunk with high-intensity has strong anti-pressing capacity; the important parts, such as the digital camera, lamp box, etc, even adopt independent seal-design to ensure its well water-proof capability, equipment has strong capability of waterproof, damp-proof, dustproof, salt-mist proof and mist-proof; meanwhile, its core part(including camera and optical lens) adopts electron temperature control technology to adjust the temperature of working surrounding, so as to ensure the digital camera to work regularly in any temperature of nature surrounding, so that this equipment can satisfy the needs of working under all-weather. With low-voltage power supply of DC12V, VSUVI2000-II can work safely.
VSUVI2000-II has the following technical characteristics:
 Double level sealed design: VSUVI2000-II adopts independent sealed
design to key parts (camera and optical lens) to avoid mist producing and
it has strong capacities of waterproof, damp-proof, salt-mist proof. Its
inside adopts advanced electron temperature-control technology to ensure
it to work regularly in any temperature of nature surroundings. In the mean
time, with this technology, it largely decreases the reliance on construction quality.
 Various anti-rolling design: reduce the installation area; increase the
frame rigidity; and the main parts are installed by suspension;
 The core parts and lamp box adopt suspending design to get better
anti-tremble capability, so that the precision of the whole optical imaging
can be ensured;
 The lighting adopts LED lamp, so it greatly increases the life and reliability of lighting system; meanwhile, LED lamp has delicate responding time to satisfy higher testing speed, so the testing efficiency is upgraded;
3.2 VSM100 System Host
 
VSM100 is the core components of data-processing and control system. It
has a high-performance PC hardware as a platform.VSM100 use the platform
of Windows XP or Windows Vista to run core software VSM100.GIGE-OS.
VSM100.GIGE-OS completely use modular design, and include the following software modules: the main operation, the parameters setup procedure, system maintenance procedure, VSIO online programming procedure, number plate recognition procedure, off-line vehicle image browser procedure, scene video replay procedure, etc.
3.3 VSUVC400 Controller
 
VSUVC400 is the control unit of VS-UVSS-1S system, having function of
input collection, output control, vehicle sensor detector, power supply and so on, and it links with VSM100 system mainframe by RS232 or network
interface. It adopts high performance microprocessor to realize the function of IO collection, control and communication with outside equipment.

 
4. SYSTEM FUNCTION AND FEATURE
 
VS-UVSS-1S mobile under vehicle surveillance system provides users with
abundant and convenient operation function. The design has reserve a large
number of expansive software and hardware interface, which facilitate users'
operation. At the same time to satisfy the demand of continuous extension
and upgrade for future use.
 
4.1 Under Vehicle Image Record Function
 
Auto digital lines scan, High-resolution, optional monochrome or color, full undercarriage imaging;

A variety of image processing methods: zoom in, zoom out, vertical
scaling, adjustment of showed proportion, storage, search, playback and
so on;

Efficient under vehicle Image Searching function: to search history under
vehicle image data by index of time, number plate, vehicle models, etc,
or search standard under vehicle image information based on number plate, model, vehicle manufacturer, etc;
Support for building standard vehicle undercarriage database by number
plate or model;
Memory function of proportion display, to minimize under vehicle image
distortion;
Suitable for check various types of vehicles;
Dual screen display support(optional) to have the second monitor to
display undercarriage images separately;
LED array illumination;
Standard vehicle undercarriage image database can be easily established
by users;
Comparison between live under vehicle image and standard under vehicle
image, through the index such as number plate, vehicle models etc. support;

4.4 Management of hard-disk capacity
 
 The entire storage space is divided into storage data and standard undercarriage image storage data ;
 Automatic cycle covering the data storage for using;
 Multi-management of hard-disk: the system support use multiple hard
disks as data storage, when a hard disk partition becomes full, it will
automatically skip to the next partition.
 
4.5 Automated Detection
 
 The entire checking process can be designed by programming to achieve
a high degree of automation.
 
4.6 Other features
 
 Macro-operation: the system provides a powerful macro operation which
means the combination of a series of operations. The user can define a
variety of macro operation according to their needs. it greatly simplifies the operation process;
 Time events: to implement a series of operations during a specified period
of time ;
 Optional English or Chinese interface, abundant system information tips, a number of humanized operation design;
 Information storage can binding with under vehicle image, number plate
image, outlook image, vehicle model ,etc;
 Offline browser function, support for skimming the information of under
vehicle image, number plate image, vehicle model etc. on other computer;
 Optional number plate recognition module which can automatically identify
number plate and vehicle color, at the same time support to manually
enter information of number plate, vehicle color, model and so on ;

5. VS-UVSS-1 NETWORK
 
VS-UVSS-1S under vehicle surveillance system has designed network interface and relevant software; you can connect each separate VS-UVSS-1S with the network function of VS-UVSS-1S, then centralize to manage each lane by the VS-UVSS management platform (run VS-UVSS Net Center software) to realize the function of data share, vehicle in and out management, etc; files and data of each VS-UVSS-1S system can be saved by loading to network memory sever.
VS-UVSS network center has the following main functions:
 Real-time monitor of under carriage image in each lane;
 Real-time monitor of scene videos in each lane
 Monitor the running state of VS-UVSS-1 system in each lane;
 Management, analysis, traffic flow stat. of in and out vehicles.

7. Typical Inspection procedures
 
The whole inspection procedure can be programmed, so users can design and configure aux equipment (such as plate recognition camera, scene camera, lane barrier, signal lamp, vehicle sensor, etc) by themselves according to the situation, then program the whole inspection procedure by VSM100, so that kinds of spot needs can be satisfied.
Description:
Drivers should put into inspecting spot when signal lamp is green. First,
“vehicle sensor #1” has detected vehicle passing and trigger “number plate
recognition camera” to photograph and upload the pictures to VSM100, then
recognize plate information, and at this time, “signal lamp” changes into red to prohibit other vehicles entrance, meanwhile, “under vehicle imaging
equipment” is in working status: trigger light turns on; under carriage scanning camera begin to scan and picture is uploaded to VSM100; when “vehicle sensor #2” has detected vehicle tail, trigger light turns off, camera scanning stops, and VSM100 will get the complete pictures displayed on the screen and save it automatically; in the mean time, vehicle is parking in front of the lane barrier, waiting for passing permission, at this time, operator can magnify or compare this picture to rapidly judge whether there is dangerous goods or people. If there is nothing different, the lane barrier will turn on to discharge; after vehicle passing “vehicle sensor #3”, lane barrier automatically drops, “signal lamp” turns green and waiting for the next vehicle coming.
