Checking the version of the printer to see if the BOOT ROM is version 1.7.0, the FIRMWARE is version 2.0.13.
3. If your printer is not the above-mentioned version, please update as below:
(a).Connecting the printer and computer with parallel cable.
(b).Pressing the first and the fourth buttons on the left, if the printer displays nothing, and continuously alert, then you can update.
(c).Updating the BOOT ROM to version 1.7 (Remark: You must update BOOT ROM first, then update the FIRMWARE).Updating the FIRMWARE to version 2.0.13.
(d).Waiting about 20-40 seconds, you can hear a sound -DI,that means you have updated successfully
4. Installing the decoder to the right-side data cable which near the memory on the motherboard.
 
Work Must Do after Decoding:
 
Enter into Set up menu - Ink option menu - Ink control menu set Preheat
Enter into Set up menu - Ink option menu - Temp control menu - Calibrate cartridges
Enter into Set up menu - Print mode menu - Pass correction - off
 
Remark:

1. You must take out the decoder (including the original chips on the ink cartridges) before up-dating.
2. You must update in the right order (update the BOOT ROM first, then the FIRMWARE).
3. You must reset with only one decoder each time.

Encad NovaJet850/880/800 Chip Decoder Installation Instruction

Pls follow the steps before install the Chip decoder:
1. Ensure there are eight original legal printheads in Plotter.
2. Turn on power switch of the Plotter, and waiting for the plotter self-check till it is finished.
3. Pls make following settings on the operation panel:
A: Set up Menu----Ink Option-----Ink control Menu-----( Select) Preheat------OK
B: Set up Menu----Print Menu----Pass Correction-----( Select) off-------OK
C: Set up Menu----User Setup Menu------SaveUser-------OK
4. Turn off the power switch of the Plotter.
5. Turn on the power switch of the Plotter, and waiting for the plot self check till it is finished, and then turn off the plotter.

Install the Chip Decoder after ensure the power switch of the Plotter is turned off:
1. Take off the top cover of Plotter, take off the case shell at the right side of the plotter( with operation panel).
2. Insert the Chip Decoder into the main board of the plotter.
3. Pls set up the plotter step by step ( Opposite to step1. );
4. Conglutinate two electro circuit points which on the original enumerative chip of the original printhead together with adhesive tape. Turn on the plotter after install the printhead, it is ok to work now
