Mulan County’s Chuanminshen violaceum (aka the root of straight ladybell) was recorded in detail in Compendium of Materia Medica. Modern studies have indicated that Mulan County’s Chuanminshen violaceum is rich in up to 18 kinds of amino acid, polysaccharides, protein and various useful trace elements. Its main chemical compositions are lots of linear furocoumarins and a few simple coumarins including triterpenoid, yellow metal, sterides and polysaccharides.

The Chuanminshen violaceum is picked from the Daba Mountain range in Langzhong, Sichuan province with an altitude between 660 and 888 meters at 31.75 degrees north latitude. The natural treasure is grown with organic-rich and mineral-rich soil and peerless climatic condition and water quality. It was registered with geographical indications of agricultural products of the Ministry of Agriculture in July, 2009. The producing area has passed organic food authentication.
