Sodium sulfite is white or yellow crystalline powder or crystallization, with a strong smell of SO2, the proportion is 1:4 and dissolved in water, its solution appears acid reaction. It releases SO2 when meets the strong acid, and then produce salt. Long time in the air, it will be oxidized into Na2S2O4, so it can not be stored for a long time. Above 150 degrees, it will be decomposed into SO2.
Usage: dyeing, organic compound, print, making leather in industry; used as preservatives and bleaching agent, loosing agent in food processing.
