Hysteresis brakes produce torque strictly through a magnetic air gap without the use of magnetic particles of friction components. This method of braking provides far superior operating characteristics (smoother torque, longer life, superior repeatability, high degree of controllability, and less maintenance and down time) which make them the preferred choice for precise tension control during the processing of nearly an material, web or strand.
 
Structural Characteristics
The hysteresis effect in magnetism is applied to torque control by the use of two basic components- a reticulated pole structure a specialty steel rotor /shaft assembly –fastened together but not in physical contact. Until the field coil is energized, the drag cup and shaft can spin freely on its bearings. When a magnetizing force from either a field coil or magnet is applied to the pole structure, the air gap becomes a flux field. The motor is magnetically restrained, providing a braking action between the pole structure and rotor.
 
Standard hysteresis brakes is divided into single output and double output, we can use the type of installation according to the usage space,its range of application is wide and the commonality is strong .It is mainly used in high speed winding equipment, motor, a small internal combustion engines,gear boxes and other rotary devices .load –life test simulation; high-end sports equipment,accurate load.
 
Air-cooles Hysteresis Brakes- Take the standard hysteresis brake as the foundation, added the air cooled installed thereon. When brake is under operation for a long time, it’s temperature will rise suddenly, the air cooled hysteresis brake can be continuos working for a long time under a high slip power.
 
Matched hysteresis brakes- The certain point in a number of torque are the same with only one set of control system to achieve multi-axis tension control.
It is mainly used for multi-volume yarn,glass fiber unwinding devices and cables ,ropes, and other processing machinery.
 
Hollow shaft Hysteresis brakes- Take the standard hysteresis brakes as the foundation getting rid of the bearings and adding fix holes in the rotor .Providing constant tension control for the passively unreeling wire, it applied to the screw winding occasions where the electric cable inhibitor grips the gauze to the belt. Such as wire and cable, fiber optic cables ropes and tape and other production equipment.
