Appearance: colorless transparent liquid aqueous solution, there is a special odor faint. Pure hydrogen peroxide is a pale blue, oily liquid.
Main components: Industrial grade is divided into 27.5%, 35% of two kinds. Melting point (℃): -0.89 ℃ (anhydrous)
Boiling point: 152.1 ℃ (anhydrous)
Refractive index: 1.4067 (25 ℃)
Relative density (water = 1): 1.46 (anhydrous)
Saturated vapor pressure (kPa): 0.13 (15.3 ℃)
Solubility: with water, ethanol or diethyl ether mixture in any proportion. Not soluble in benzene and petroleum ether.
Structure: HOOH is not chiral, because-OO-not the lowest oxidation state of O, so unstable, easily broken
Solution containing hydrogen ions, while hydrogen peroxide roots under the action of ions generates hydroxyl ions, in which hydrogen ion concentration is higher than the concentration of hydroxide ions.
Toxicity LD50 (mg / kg): rat subcutaneous 700
Main use
In different circumstances may have oxidation or reduction reactions. Available oxidant, bleaching agent, disinfectant, dechlorination agent, and for rocket fuel, organic or inorganic peroxides, foams and other porous substances.
Medical hydrogen peroxide (3% or less) is a good disinfectant.
For industrial use is about 10% used for bleaching, as strong oxidant, dechlorination agent, fuel and so on.
