Use: By far the main use of Adipic Acid is as a monomer for the production of nylon; forming 6, 6-nylon, the most common form of nylon. There are also alternative major volume uses in the manufacture of polyurethane foams and elastomers; the preparation of esters for use a plasticisers and lubricants; adhesives; conservatives in the food industry; baking powders; in the pharmaceutical industry as an additive (acidulant); and in the printing industry for high-grade paper manufacturing.
