Fused Mullite is manufactured by fusing a mixture of high purity Alumina and pure quartz sand in a tilting type arc furnace at a temperature around 2000 ℃. Controlled cooling of the molten mass ensures a high degree of mullitization characterized by well defined columnar crystals.
Whit high melting point, excellent thermal stability, low reversible thermal expansion and resistance to thermal shock and chemical corrosion at high temperature, Fused Mullite is widely used as lining brick in glass body kiln and large hot wind furnace in iron-making blast furnace, as well as in ceramic kiln furniture and petrochemistry. It is
one of the main raw materials used by the refractory industry.
