4, Chemical Properties
(1) appearance: white or whitish powder.
(2) particle size: 80 pass rate >98.5%
(3) temperature: 280-300 degrees Celsius.
(4) apparent density: 0.25 - 0.79g /cc (usually at 0.5 g/cc); specific gravity: 1.26-1.31 g / cc.
(5) color changing temperature :190-200 degrees Celsius.
(6) surface tension: 2% aqueous solution: 42-56 Dyn/cm.
(7) Dissoluble in water and some solvents, such as proper-proportion ethanol/water, alcohol/water, methyl chloroform, etc. Water solution is surfactant. With high transparency, stable performance, different jellification temperature for varied products. The thickness of the solution changes with viscosity, that is, lower viscosity and higher thickness. Performance of varied HPMC is different one another. Solution of HPMC in water is free of affect of PH values.
(8) HPMC's gel point goes higher as the methoxy content reduces, and its water solubility and surfactant performance decreases as well.
(9) HPMC can thicken solution and is salt resistant. It is characterized by low dash, stable pH and dimension, excellent film forming, as well as a wide range of tolerance of enzyme, dispersion, and viscosity.
