1.5% lanthanated (EWLa-15)
1.5% lanthanated tungsten electrodes (AWS classification EWLa-1.5), which contain a minimum of 97.80% tungsten, 1.30 to 1.70% lanthanum and 0.5% other, has been the most popular alternative to 2% thoriated tungsten electrode for most industry in American ,Europen countries and Japan.La2O3 has the lowest work function of any electrode. Hundreds of Thousands experiments told us that 1½% lanthanated tungsten electrodes have much longer life than 2% thoriated tungsten electrodes if not overloaded and better arc starting. It is best used to weld carbon steel, stainless steels, nickel alloys and titanium because its longer life reduces down time. Also, as a general rule it will probably require 15% amperage to start and keep the low current. More importantly 1.5% Lanthanated tungsten electrodes work well on AC or DC situation. Since 1998, BTM Group has been offering this tungsten electrode.

All 1.5% lanthanated tungsten electrode is packaged 10 pieces of 150mm or 175mm.
