Potassium Carbonate 99%
CAS No.584-08-7
Property: Potassium Carbonate may be monoclinic crystal, white powder, granular crystal or prill.
The relative density is 2.428 and the melting point is at 891 degree ,It is easily soluble in water forming a slightly alkaline solution.
It is insoluble in alcohol and ether.
It has strong hygroscopicity. It easily cakes and turns into Potassium Bicarbonate through absorbing carbon dioxide when exposed to the air for a long time.
Usage:
1.can be used for soap, glass, and china production
2.can be used for softening the water
3.In the laboratory, it may be used as a mild drying agent where other drying agents such as calcium chloride and magnesium sulfate may be incompatible.
4.Mixed with water it causes an exothermic reaction.
5.It is mixed with distilled water to make a safer electrolyte for oxyhydrogen production than potassium hydroxide, the more commonly used electrolyte.
6.An ingredient in welding fluxes, and in the flux coating on arc welding rods.
7.Potassium carbonate is used in reactions to maintain anhydrous conditions without reacting with the reactants and product formed. It may also be used to pre-dry some ketones, alcohols, and amines prior to distillation.
Package:25kg/bag
Handling and Storage: Storage:Keep it under seal in cool and dry place
Avoid handling and transporting together with acid substances. In the event of a fire, use water as extinguishing agent.
