Active Ingredient: One of the main active ingredients of the essential oil from German chamomile is the terpene bisabolol. The Other active ingredients include farnesene, chamazulene, flavonoids (including apigenin, quercetin, patuletin and luteolin) and coumarin. Apigenin is a flavone that is the aglycone of several glycosides.
Function:
? Soothes and relaxes at bedtime;
? Relieves restlessness, teething problems, and colic in children;
? Relieves allergies, much as an antihistamine would;
? Aids digestion when taken as a tea after meals;
? elieves morning sickness during pregnancy;
? Speeds healing of skin ulcers, wounds, or burns;
? Treats gastritis and ulcerative colitis.
Benefits of Apigenin: Apigenin is one of the flavonoids- more precisely one of the citrus bioflavonoids. Apigenin, just like most flavonoids, has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor properties. As with many flavonoids, Apigenin has potential to reduce the risk of cancer since it has anti-tumor activity. Apigenin also could potentially be useful in allergic conditions since it can have anti-inflammatory properties. It is a nontoxic dietary flavonoid that has been shown to possess anti-tumor properties and therefore poses special interest for the development of a novel chemopreventive and/or chemotherapeutic agent for cancer.
