As the phosphate dissolves in water, the radical forms a layer of phosphate coating. This layer prevents oxygen, water and other substances from corroding metal surfaces. Furthermore, surface treatment of the powder particles improves binding of pigments to resin and to metal surfaces as it also enhances the anti-corrosion properties of the film.
