In the process of formation of the lightning cloud, an electric field is produced

between the ground and clouds, with electric field intensity 500 v/km. In consequence,

the phenomenon corona discharge begins to appear in the mental parts or protuberant

parts on the ground.

      When a downside pilot is formed in the internal part of lightning clouds, lightning

begins to release electronic shock; meanwhile descending pilot charges commences

to move to the ground in the shape of ladder. An electric field is set up on the ground

with the action of the electronic charges that carried by the downside pilot.

      At the same time, the buildings and the objects on the ground produce an uplink

pilot, which transmits upward until it meets the downside pilot, when the lightning

current flows by the formed channel. The other buildings on the ground may generate

several uplink pilots, one of which first meets with downside pilot determines the site of

lightning shock.

 Note: The above explanation describes a negative downward lightning shock, which is
