Use a HDMI cable(usually included in the accessories of HD TV,or check here to access it  ), connect the HDMI adapter and TV, and then insert the HDMI adpater into iPad or iPhone 4, , all the showing transmit to the screen. Now, you can watch HD movies....you can do everything you like.
Notice: This HDMI adapter compatible with HDMI cable 1.3,1.2 and below version, 
don't compatible with latest cable 1.4 version. so you should buy the cable in 1.3 or below version,
