Character: White crystalline powder. Melting point 158-160. Soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in water or chloroform, slightly soluble in ether. Bitter and slightly salty.
Usage: Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API), antibiotic, For most anaerobic bacteria with strong antibacterial effect. For the treatment of amoebiasis, trichomoniasis and anaerobic infections. The product in 1959 for the treatment of vaginal trichomoniasis, 1970 for the intestine, outside amoebiasis, its high efficacy, low toxicity, wide application. Animal experiments have mutagenic and teratogenic effects.
