Composite laser crystals (sometimes called hybrid laser crystals) are laser crystals which have been fabricated by combining different parts. Typically, epoxy-free diffusion bonding of carefully prepared crystal surfaces is used,. These Diffusion Bonded composite crystals are used to effectively decrease heat effect of Solid-State High-Power Laser.
YVO4 or YAG  components are extremely useful for higher power in  laser systems. Undoped end-caps increase damage threshold by separating the pump input face with the lasing doped portion. especially in the form of Nd:YAG/Cr4+:YAG passively q-switched microchips have found a host of applications due to their compact size and the incorporation of both the lasing material and q-switch into a monolithic element.
