Flattened expanded metal is manufactured by passing the metal through a cold roll reducing mill parallel to the LWD. It is Standard Expanded Metal that has been rolled through a flattening machine in the expanding process. By flattening the sheet, the bonds and strands are turned down to produce a smooth and flat surface – essentially elongating the LWD of the diamond.
1. Camber- The greatest deviation of a side of edge from a straight line after flattening shall not exceed 3/32 inch per foot (0.8mm per 100mm) of dimension.
2. Thickness- shall not be less than 70% of the nominal thickness specified for the sheet from the item produced.
3. Squareness- Ends shall not be more than 1/8 inch per foot (1 mm per 100 mm) out of square or 1/2 inch (12.7mm) overall.
4. Flatness(Levelness) – Sheets shall be free from waves or buckles that are in excess of 1-1/2 inch (38.1mm) from a plane surface.
