Ceramic Balls are widely used in strong conditions.

They have a lower density than steel, a low coefficient of termal expansion and a very high hardness. They have a long life in very high velocity applications. The four most important materials are Alumina oxide, Ruby (or Sapphire), zirconium oxide and silicon nitride.
