NOMEX fiber has the characteristics of heat and flame retardant.The continuous working temperature is 204°C and the instantaneous working temperature is 240°C.Its unique structure of B-aromatic ring and the key link between conjugate amine very strong.It can risist the chemical attack.Therefore,NOMEX will not melt or drop,even explode the high temperature environment for long time.It will only be scorched(L0I:limit oxygen inde is 29%).But in general the hot flue gas contains not only wate but also mixed with acid gases and other impuities,such as :sulfur oxide,hydrochloric acid,nitric oxide.calcium hydroxide etc.these gases will accelerate the hydrolysis reactions of the filtratin bag(NOMEX regain rate of water is 4.5%).Especially when the dust collection room is below the dew point of acid,the hydrolysis effect is more serious.Therefoe,we recommen that the temperature of the dust catcher should be controlled at 20°C above the dew point while using NOMEX filtration bag.The filtration bag is the best choice for the dust collection for the fields of asphalt-stirring,steel,cement and other high-temperature conditions.
NOMEX is the trade name of the high temperature resistant non-woven needled felt made with the fiber produced by Dupont US,CONEX is that of the product made with the fiber produced by Tejin Japan.
The filtration bag made with the fiber has the advantage of good high temperature resistance and good dimension stability.It also resists to acid and alkaline.The product is widely used in fields of chemical industry,steel and iron,carbon,cement,asphalt-stirring,etc.It is the most widely used materials in the field of dust collection at high temperature.
Metamax Needle Punched Filter Felt
The manufacture of these fibers is much more complex than say for polyester and take place from solven,which results in more complex fiber cross sections.These non circular shapes actually assist in filtration because they bring more surface area of fiber per square meter of felt.
The temperature resistance is good up to 220°C for short periods in dry conditions,but in common with other fibers,Metamax fibers are susceptible to hydrolysis.This means that in hot most conditions water can break down the chemical form which the fiber were made ,turning them back to their constituent chemicals.This greatly reduces their strength.
In summary Metamax felts are good all round high temperature media which need care in selection when the moisture level is high.It is commonly used for dust removal of asphalt,blast furnaces,carbon black(carbon-white),cement klin,electric furnace etc.
