This automotive coolant refractometer is designed to test concentration of antifreeze liquid, cleaning fluids, electrolyte solution batteries strength in unit of Specific Gravity (sg) and measures the concentration of battery coolant plus battery charge condition. With the indication of the percentage of concentration, you will know at which temperature (centigrade ) of the fluid will be frozen for both Propylene Glycol and Ethylene Glycol. It checks the freezing point of antifreeze used in car and truck radiators. If the antifreeze is diluted, it will freeze if it gets too cold - a very bad thing! This can crack the engine block and destroy the engine. The built-in ATC is automatically adjusted to correct temperature discrepancies of environment temperature. It uses ambient light only and no batteries are needed.
Anyone who runs a fleet of trucks, buses, cars or even ground equipment - school buses, truck fleets, taxi cabs, the post office, airlines, construction companies, car and truck radiators, large commercial air conditioners, etc - are good prospects for this product. It insure that all is working properly, and not causing problems (like rust, prone to freezing, poor charging, poor cooling, etc.). This unit is also fantastic for testing aviation grade hydraulic oils (like Skydrol), Glycol-based heat transfer fluids, and fire resistant hydraulic fluids used in die casting or foundry applications.
