Description
White Fused Alumina (WFA) is a high purity, synthetic mineral and its main raw material is pure grade Bayer Alumina. It is produced by fusing calcined alumina in an electric arc furnace under carefully controlled conditions at temperatures greater than 2000?C followed by a slow solidification process. The material produced is white in color, dense and has predominantly large crystals of Alpha Alumina. The hardness of WFA is higher, but toughness is lower than that of Brown Fused Alumina, hence it is highly suitable in Vitrified Bonded Abrasives products where cool, fast cutting action is essential and also in the manufacture of high purity alumina refractories.
Application
White Fused Alumina is a very refractory, hard and chemically resistant material widely used in the refractory, abrasive and foundry industries. White Fused Aluminum Oxide Macrogrits are used for all kinds of bonded abrasives; e.g. surface grinding, external and internal cylindrical grinding, creepfeed grinding of low or unalloyed steel, etc. General industrial applications include pressure blasting, microderm abrasion, anti-skid, and lapping. Other applications include use in Coated Abrasives, Surface treatment, Ceramic Tiles, Anti-Skid Paints, Fluidized Bed Furnaces and Skin / Dental Care.
