Principle:
Piezo element are used on the knitting machines for the displacement of the Jacquard. The consists of two piezo ceramics which are isolated from each other with a layer of glass fibers.
Piezo ceramics have the property to deform itself if a voltage is set. A voltage of about 200V is set alternatingly on each side of the piezo element with switching. The piezo ceramics deforms itself and displace the needle to the left-or the right-hand side of the Jacquard guide.
