Burst testing is one method to determine the overall minimum seal strength of the pouch seals by inflating the pouch at a uniform rate until the seal separates at the point of greatest weakness.

 

Labthink LSSD-01 Leak and Seal Strength Tester combines leak test and seal strength test in one instrument. It can be used for burst testing for potato chip bags using internal air pressurization. 

 

During pressurization, the package shall be enclosed between two rigid and parallel plates (restraining plates) that limit the expansion and dimensional distortion of the package but allow the seal perimeter area to be unrestricted.
