Diamond and cubic boron nitride (CBN) are considered to be the hardest known grinding materials and are therefore often referred to as "super-abrasives". For this reason they are suitable formachining materials which are difficult or even impossible to grind withconventional abrasives such as silicon carbide or corundum.

 

Diamond grinding wheels is particularly suitable for machining of hard and brittle materials.

Carbide, cermet, glass, ceramics, quartz, ferrites, semiconductor material, graphite, glass fiber reinforced plastics.

 

Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN), is produced by high pressure, high temperature synthesis. CBN is the secondhardest abrasive, surpassed only by diamond. Compared with diamond it offerseconomic advantages in the machining of ferrous materials, such as steel. CBN is suited for machining the following materials:

 

Hardened steel, high speed steel, stellite, nickel based special alloys, hard-to-machine steels with large propositions of alloys.
