1.Application
EVH1-24 series vacuum circuit breaker (called the VCB or the product in the
following) is an important component in the electric power distributing system, it can be
used to open, close and protect the electric power distributing system in factory, miner,
generator power and transformer substation, etc. The VCB is suitable to be used in AC
50Hz, neutral-point earthing and electric power system; the rated voltage is up to 24kV.
The product meet the standard on GB1984-2003 <High-voltage alternating-circuit
circuit-breakers >,JB3855 <indoor alternating-circuit high-voltage vacuum
circuit-breakers for rated voltages of 3.6~40.5 kV>,DL403<order technical requirements
of indoor high-voltage alternating-circuit circuit-breakers for rated voltages of 10~35
kV>and the relative regulation of IEC62271-100:2001<High-voltage alternating-circuit
circuit-breakers>.
 EVH1-24 series vacuum circuit breaker for indoor use can be used for movable
switchgear, or fixed kind of switchgear. The products have many advantages, i.e. long
live, simply maintenance, no pollution, no explosion, and low noises. The VCBs are
suitable to strict situation of frequent operation.
2.Product structure
General structure
The vacuum interrupt and the operating mechanism of Type EVH1-24 series indoor HV
vacuum circuit breakers are located in a common frame,this structure is called unitary layout.
The structure design could make the operating performance of mechanism and interrupt work
well, and reduced needless driving stage, decreased energy consumption and noise, made the
operating function more reliable. Type EVH1-24 series indoor HV vacuum circuit breakers
are suitable to be equipped in the removable switchgears as well as in fixed switchgears.
The VCB’s main circuits adopt the cast structure, which integrated the vacuum
interrupt in an insulated pole tube at the direction of vertical axis. The insulated pole tube was
cast by APG technology with epoxy resin. Hence can greatly not only prevent the vacuum
interrupt from being damaged by external factors, but also ensures that the vacuum interrupt
are provided with the high resistance against the voltage effect even in moist heat or heavily

The operating mechanism is an independent mode of spring operating
mechanism that can be energy-stored manually or by motor. The operating mechanism is a
splint kind of structure, and located in the operating mechanism case in front of the vacuum
interrupt .
 
Vacuum interrupt
Type EVH1-24 indoor HV vacuum circuit breaker takes use of the latest advanced ceramic
vacuum interrupt made by Siemens. The VI (short form of Vacuum Interrupt herein) adopts
copper-chrome material, the cup-shape structure of the contacts with longitudinal magnetic
field. The VI has many advantages of small abrasion, long life, high withstand voltage level,
stable medium insulation intensity, recover rapidly after arcing, low cut-off current, and
strong current-breaking ability.
The inside air pressure of VI is not higher than 1.33 × 10-3Pa, it can be normally stored
and operated for more than 20 years. The operating endurance of the VI is higher than the one
of the VCB’s operation.
Arc extinguishing principle
When the movable contacts and the fixed contacts are opened on load by the means of the
operating mechanism, the vacuum arc will appear across the contacts. Meanwhile, the
appropriate longitudinal magnetic field will be generated due to the special structure of contacts that
make the vacuum arc with diffusibility and even makes the arc uniformly distributing on the
surface of the contacts, and keep low arc voltage. When the current naturally passes zero point,
the residual ions, electrons and metal steams will be compounded or condensed on the surface of
the contacts and shield in several microseconds, the dielectric strength of the gap of the arc
extinguishing chambers will be quickly recovered, the arc will be extinguished, thus the purpose of
breaking can be realized. Since this circuit breaker takes use of the longitudinal magnetic field to
control the vacuum arc, so it has strong and steady capability of breaking current.
Operating principle
 
Energy storage operation
The energy storing motor 1 or the manual energy storing parts drives the gears 2 to
rotate the sprocket wheel 5 through chain 4, thereby the regulating crank 6 of the spring on
the driving shaft is rotated in clockwise, and the closing spring is elongated, the purpose of
energy storage is realized. When the closing spring is elongated to required length, the
holding detent and the roller wheel can keep it. Meanwhile, the indicator for energy storage
will be rotated to indicate “ energy stored” by the pushing plate.
Opening and closing operation
a. Closing action
When the closing spring has charged, push the on-button manually to rotate the closing
bent plate; or the closing electromagnet actuates the closing bent plate rotating, by which the
holding detent is rotated through the driving shaft. Thereby, the closing spring is released
from the restriction of the holding detent and the roller wheel, is will rotate the cam in
clockwise, through the one-stage four bar linkage device and the insulation rod, the
conducting rods of the vacuum interrupt are driven to move upwards, so as to complete
closing operation.
b. Opening action
After the closing operation, push the manual off-button to rotate the tripping bent plate,
or the open electromagnet actuates the open bent plate rotating, by which the open half shaft
is rotated in clockwise, the restriction from the open half shaft towards the secondary tripping
parts is released, by the force from the contact force spring inside the insulation rod and
opening spring, the movable conducting rods of the vacuum interrupt are driven to move
downwards, so as to complete open operation.
