When Diamondback set out to create the Airen frame, they didn’t simply want to take a men’s model and paint it in pastel colors. Instead, Diamondback started from the ground up and designed a bike geometry to specifically fit a woman’s body. The Airen frame features a fully butted 7005 alloy construction with a women’s specific compact geometry and an integrated headtube design. The 2013 Airen 1 is outfitted with more budget conscious components to create the perfect entry level road bike starting with a blend of Shimano components including 2300 dual control shifters/brake levers and front derailleur, an HG50 8spd cassette, and a Sora rear derailleur. Stopping power comes courtesy of Tektro R312A dual pivot brakes and FSA gets a nod for the Tempo Triple crankset which sports a 52, 42 and a 30t chainring. Low spoke count (28f/28r) Equation SE wheels offer a quick and lightweight riding experience and are laced to alloy hubs. Rounding out the build, the Airen 1 comes equipped with a women-specific DBR Performance saddles, specifically made DB Devine series road stems and shorter crank arms.
