Specifications
Turning glands are bolted between the lower suction pipe and the cardan hinge in a trailing pipe of a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger. It provides a rotational movement around the pipe axis and thus enables the draghead to follow an uneven seabed.
The turning glands are made of heavy-duty pipe and flanges, and are provided with cast turning rings and sealing.
