1. General Introduction
A waterstop is an element of a concrete structure, intended to prevent the passages of fluids (such as water) when embedded in and running continuously through concrete joints.
Waterstops are frequently manufactured from extruded plastics such as flexible polyvinyl chloride PVC, polyethylene (PE) orthermoplastic vulcanizate rubber (TPV); formed metal such as stainless steel, copper, or carbon steel; or extruded thermosets such as natural rubber,styrene-butadiene rubber, or neoprene rubber.
2. Characteristics
The waterstop belt can tight the airproofing, prevent making water, water penetration, shock absorption and cushion, for the characteristic of high flexibility and compression deformation.
There have to be some construction slot, sedimentation slot, transmutation slot for some reason of can not keeping affuse, or the transmutation of geology, or the thermal expansion and thermal contraction of the concrete for the reason of temperature, so it must to fix the waterstop belt to prevent leakage.
3. Application
The underground projects of the retaining dam, reservoir, metro, culvert, tunnel lamp. In those projects, it can be prevent from that the groundwater (or out of bounds water) spill over into the buildings structure and also can prevent the buildings water leakage to the outside world.
