Matting Hardener RC55

Description

RC55 is the salts of polycarboxylic acid with cyclic amidine. The hardener, applied in suitable formulations can produce epoxy or Hybrid coatings for matt or semi-matt gloss with very good flow and properties. Variation between matt and semi-matt surface can be obtained by means of suitable adjustment of formulation

Application

-Matting hardener RC55 for pure epoxy based powder coatings. The matt epoxy powder coatings with gloss ranges from 20% to 30% (60°) can be obtained when RC55 used as single crosslinker.

-Matting hardener RC55 for epoxy/polyester powder coatings. In such coating systems the wide range of gloss is controlled by replacing parts of RC55 with polyester resins (AV=34±2mgKOH/g).

-Excellent flow and Good mechanical properties.

Recommended amounts and incorporation methods

-Approx. 7-7.5parts, calculated on 100 parts by weight of epoxy (EEW=850-1000)

-Approx. 8-8.5 parts, calculated on 100 parts by weight of epoxy (EEW=700-850)

-RC 55 is added to the binder/pigment blend before extrusion

-Curing conditions: 180°C x15-20 Min. or 190°C x12-15 Min. or 200°C x10-12 Min.
