3.Main Instrumental Components 

 

1) Column Oven

• Introduction:It is a key part and occupy a large proportion of of gas chromatograph. Its function is accommodate column  and control the column's working temperature precisely.
• Parameter:

Column oven size:28cm*30*cm*18cm 

Operating temperature range: ambient temperature to 400°C;

Temperature precision:0.1°C

Hightest programmed heating rate: 120°C/min;

Column loss compensation (double channel)

Temperature variation in the oven is less than or equal to 1°C

High-speed heating and cooling.

2) Columns

There are two general types of column, packed column and capillary column. Its function is mainly used forsplitting different

components from compound and it directly influence the separation efficiency, stability and detection sensitivity.
u Packed Columns

Packed columns contain a finely divided, inert, solid support  material (commonly based on diatomaceous earth) coated with liquid stationary phase.

u Capillary Columns

 Capillary columns have an internal diameter of a few tenths of amillimeter, whose walls are coated with liquid stationary phase.

Its capacity is small but its separation efficiency is better than packed column.  

 

3).Detectors  

There are many detectors which can be used in gas chromatography. Different detectors will give different types of selectivity.
