UNS S32205 is a duplex stainless steel grade. It owns the combined characteristic of austenitic and ferritic steel:

● Excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking in chloride environment

● High resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion
● Good resistance to erosion corrosion and corrosion fatigue
● Very high mechanical strength
● Good weldability

 

S32205 has the excellent corrosion property, so it is a highly suitable material for service under grim environment, containing chlorides and hydrogen sulphide. It also owns very high strength, which makes this material as an attractive alternative to the austenitic steel grades in structure subjected to heavy load.

The good mechanical and corrosion property make this material an economical choice in many applications by reducing the life cycle cost of equipment.
