Reasons lie in two aspects. The first is that Cysteamine is unstable. Cysteamine can be easily oxidated into disulphide and lose efficiency. The second is that cysteamine can cause gastric ulcer. Cysteamine is irritative to gastric wall; high quantity of cysteamine will induce serous gastric ulcer.
